Hannah Miet is a poet, prose writer, and New Yorker living in Los Angeles.
Her poetry has appeared in PANK, the Naugatuck River Review, and the Two Weeks anthology. Her creative nonfiction, journalism, and essays have appeared in The Rumpus, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Pelican Bomb, The Atlantic, and Complex. She is currently working on her first novel.
Her surname is pronounced me-yet.
Hannah received her B.A. in Creative Writing with a poetry specialty from Hunter College, where she studied under Donna Masini. She studied travel writing in Paris at Sorbonne Université with Queens College. She received her M.A. in Journalism from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism with a focus on long-form nonfiction storytelling. Hannah is participating in the Kenyon Review’s Summer 2023 Poetry Workshop.
She has read and spoken at the Bowery Poetry Club, KGB Bar, the Cornelia Street Cafe, Melissa Broder’s Polestar Poetry Series at Cake Shop (RIP), the American Society of Journalists and Authors Annual Conference, and Loyola Marymount University.

Hannah has been editing and coaching writers in some form since 2008, when she served as Arts & Culture Editor at the Hunter Envoy and was a tutor at the Hunter College Reading & Writing Center. Today, Hannah is a freelance poetry and prose editor, providing line and developmental edits with a mentorship-style approach to feedback that keeps the writer’s voice intact.
